White County Case Lookup

Start a White County case search at Indiana's statewide public portal, which covers both county trial courts. The clerk keeps the official court record, so the portal is your window, not the vault. Search by party name or cause number, then narrow by court and filing date for a clean docket result. What you get is the Chronological Case Summary, the court docket's timeline of filings and hearings, though not every document filed in a case appears there. Restricted cases and protected material stay off the public view. For those, ask the clerk or the court about the proper access route.

Name-Based Case Searches

MyCase searches public Odyssey data statewide. Choose Name, enter a party last name or business name, and add first or middle names where known. Sounds-like and a trailing wildcard can broaden variants, but may add false matches. Select White County and use status or filing dates to narrow the list.

  1. Open MyCase and choose Name.
  2. Enter the narrowest reliable party information.
  3. Select White County in the Court field.
  4. Add Open, Closed, or All status and a filing-date range.
  5. Confirm the court code, caption, case type, and filing date before opening the CCS.

Case and Attorney tabs offer other routes. Case mode accepts a cause number, citation, or cross-reference. Attorney mode accepts an attorney number or name. MyCase caps results at 1,000, so county, status, and date filters can keep the wanted record inside the returned set.

The official search tips explain those controls.

Case Number Searches

Indiana cause numbers encode court and case type. White Circuit uses 91C01; White Superior uses 91D01. MyCase accepts numbers without hyphens or leading zeroes and supports a trailing wildcard. A number such as 91D01-26-F6-000123 identifies White Superior, filing year, F6 type, and sequence. It does not state the outcome.

Local rules place criminal, infraction, ordinance, small-claims, eviction, and red-flag matters in Superior. Circuit receives many family, probate, juvenile, mental-health, and protective-order matters. Several civil codes may go to either court, making the prefix decisive.

Case Search Results Explained

A result opens the CCS event history. Read the header first, then parties, attorneys, settings, filings, orders, finances, and disposition. A later entry may reset or change an earlier notice.

HeaderCause number, court, judge, filing date, code, caption, and status.
PartiesPublic roles and attorneys of record.
EventsFilings, service, motions, notices, orders, judgments, and converted entries.
SettingsDate, time, courtroom, judge, type, reset, and result.
DispositionEntered outcome, with later appeal, satisfaction, sentence, or financial activity possible.

Missing White County Filings

A recent filing may not appear at once. A spelling mismatch, wrong county, indexing delay, restriction, or converted legacy data can also yield no result. Retry with fewer fields and a date range. Then call the White County Clerk at 574-583-7032.

The second-floor counter at 110 North Main Street, Monticello, handles nonconfidential inspection and copies. The office publishes PO Box 350 and fax 574-583-1532. No county email request form or fixed turnaround was located, so confirm the method before sending.

White Search Wildcards and Limits

MyCase permits a trailing asterisk in case and name searches. It can help when a business suffix, spelling, or final part of a cause number is uncertain. The Sounds-like option looks for alternate name spellings. Both tools broaden results, so use them with White County and filing dates.

The 1,000-result ceiling is a real limit. A statewide name search can stop before the desired record is visible. Narrow Court to White County, choose Open or Closed only when that status is known, and set File Date From and File Date To. Do not assume an absent record is restricted until a narrow search has also failed.

A closed status means the court marked the case disposed. It does not erase later orders, payments, satisfaction, appeal, or converted events. An open status also does not prove an old hearing date remains valid. In both cases, read the newest CCS entries.

Two Ways to Search: County and State

White County has no separate current public database. MyCase is the statewide online route. The county route is the Clerk's official record service, reached in person, by phone, mail, fax, or focused public request.

MyCase Is Not the Official Record

MyCase is Odyssey's public-facing layer. Indiana warns that it can contain errors or omissions and may not display every document. A CCS printout is not a certified order. The unified Clerk keeps official files for Circuit and Superior.

White Court Prefixes Prevent Mismatches

MyCase's Court dropdown offers White County as one choice rather than separate Circuit and Superior entries. That makes the prefix inside each returned cause number essential. 91C01 identifies Circuit. 91D01 identifies Superior. A former White/Monon Town Court code is listed as abolished in 2011, and no current city or town portal was found.

The prefix also routes follow-up questions. The Clerk is the shared record custodian, but separate court administrators handle settings. A federal matter will not use either White prefix and belongs in PACER or the Northern District of Indiana record system. State appellate records likewise move beyond the county trial-court CCS.

White Search Results Need Context

A CCS is chronological, so meaning often comes from a pair or sequence of entries. A complaint followed by service, response, motion, and order tells a different story than the complaint alone. A criminal charge followed by amendment, plea, dismissal, conviction, or sentencing must be read through the last relevant event. Converted events in older Odyssey history may be terse and require a Clerk copy for context.

Statuses are broad. Closed indicates a disposition in the system, but later financial, probation, appeal, satisfaction, or correction entries can remain. Open indicates ongoing status, not that each listed setting is current. Always compare the status with the newest dated events.

Document links vary by case code. Some civil and criminal files expose selected public orders, while adoption, juvenile, domestic-relations, guardianship, mental-health, sealed, and other protected categories can have fewer remote images. An event title can remain visible without its attachment. That is expected under the access table and does not prove a broken link.

A focused record request should state White Circuit or White Superior, the full cause number, filing year, event date, document name, plain or certified copy, and preferred delivery method. Without a cause number, give a limited name, party role, approximate filing year, and case type. The Clerk's public page does not publish a general email request form, fixed turnaround, or universal online order system.

Historical research may require another channel. The Clerk links a vendor archive for White court records from 2017 and earlier, but its search fields were not available during research. The Indiana State Library's White County guide points to court, marriage, divorce, wills, estate papers, and microfilm sources. Call the Clerk before assuming that an older record is absent from public custody.

Which Cases Stay Restricted

Access to Court Records Rule 4 starts with public access. Rule 5 excludes defined records and protected data. Juvenile, adoption, sealed, expunged, and some family or guardianship material may be absent or limited.

A failed search is not proof a matter never existed. Confirm the spelling, dates, county, status, and prefix. Ask the Clerk what may be inspected in person. Identify the cause number and exact record sought.

The document access table distinguishes CCS events from remote images.
