White County Civil Docket Searches
MyCase is the public online route. Search by cause number when known, or use party name and select White County. Add the filing year, status, and case code to narrow a common name. White Circuit uses 91C01; White Superior uses 91D01. The prefix identifies the filing court.
MyCase displays public CCS events and selected documents but is not the official record. The White County Clerk serves both courts and handles copies, certification, older files, and public material unavailable online.
- Open MyCase and select Case or Name.
- Choose White County and enter the cause number or party details.
- Confirm 91C01 or 91D01 and the civil code.
- Read the newest CCS events for service, motions, settings, orders, and disposition.
- Ask the Clerk for a public document or certified judgment when the CCS is not enough.
White Civil Codes Choose the Court
Local Rule LR91-AR01-02 sends adoption, domestic relations, grandparent visitation, commercial eligible, estate, guardianship, mental health, protective order, reciprocal support, and trust matters to Circuit. Superior receives small claims, eviction, and red-flag cases. Civil plenary, foreclosure, collection, tort, and miscellaneous cases may be filed in either court.
Practical check: Read the prefix before calling. Circuit's administrator is at 574-583-5032 and Superior's at 574-583-1548. Records and copies go through the Clerk at 574-583-7032.
Civil Dockets: What They Show
A civil CCS opens with court, judge, filing date, code, caption, roles, status, and disposition. Events may include a complaint, summons, service return, appearance, response, counterclaim, motion, proposed order, hearing notice, continuance, judgment, dismissal, satisfaction, or appeal. A filed motion is only a request. Look for the later ruling.
| Cause number | Court prefix, year, civil type, and sequence. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiff or petitioner, defendant or respondent, and public attorneys. |
| Filings | Pleading, service, response, motion, notice, and proposed order. |
| Settings | Date, time, courtroom, judge, type, reset, and result. |
| Disposition | Judgment, default, dismissal, settlement order, transfer, or satisfaction. |
White Continuance Events Tell a Story
The county's continuance form asks for the set date, reason, contact with the other party, verification, service, and a proposed new date. Those steps can create several CCS lines. A motion does not itself move the hearing. The signed order and newest setting establish the change.
Local rules require a proposed order and distribution list for many requests. That helps explain separate motion, proposed-order, service, ruling, and notice entries.
What Cases Fill the Civil Docket
White civil filings range from collection, tort, foreclosure, and plenary suits to small claims and eviction. Circuit also holds family, probate, guardianship, mental-health, trust, support, and protective-order categories. Access differs across those groups.
- SC, EV, and RF go to Superior.
- Adoption, dissolution, guardianship, probate, and protective orders go to Circuit.
- PL, MF, CC, CT, and MI may use either court.
- Service and pleadings show progress, not final relief.
- The signed disposition controls the outcome.
White Civil Filings by Numbers
Indiana Court Online Reports counted 1,288 new White County civil filings in 2024. It gives scale, not a live hearing count.
Use ICOR for trends and MyCase for one public docket.
White Small Claims Form Clues
The county's dismissal form acts as a compact field guide to a Superior Court small-claims file. It asks for the court and cause number, plaintiff and defendant, whether dismissal is with or without prejudice, the parties affected, a sworn signature, and a certificate of service. Each element can correspond to a CCS event or document.
With prejudice usually means the dismissed claim cannot be brought again in the same form. Without prejudice generally leaves room for a later filing, subject to law and deadlines. The form being filed does not prove dismissal. Search for the judge's order and final status.
The proceedings-supplemental packet adds another local sequence after judgment. It records the judgment holder's information, an unsatisfied judgment statement, verification, service, and a proposed appearance in courtroom 2. A judgment can therefore remain followed by collection, hearing, payment, satisfaction, or release events. Read beyond the first judgment line.
White Service and Judgment Sequence
Service events deserve close attention in a civil docket. A summons issued entry shows that process began, not that the other party received it. A return may report completed, failed, refused, or other service activity. Later appearances and responses add context. The local dismissal, continuance, proceedings-supplemental, and rule-to-show-cause packets all include certificate-of-service fields, which is why service can recur long after the opening complaint.
A default entry is also not the same as a final certified judgment. Read for a motion, hearing, order, judgment amount when entered, and later release or satisfaction. Financial data in MyCase can be incomplete. The Clerk controls the current ledger and certified copy. When a formal judgment is needed, identify the exact order by CCS date and ask about state copy and seal charges before ordering.
Indiana Electronic Filing System providers handle many attorney and party submissions, but electronic filing does not make every image public. Odyssey stores the case activity and MyCase displays the permitted public layer. A protected address, report, exhibit, or account detail can remain excluded even when the event title is visible. The Indiana e-filing help page explains filing channels, while the court-record rules govern public access.
Hearings on the Civil Docket
A setting may include date, time, courtroom, judge, type, reset, and result. Hearings can address provisional relief, motions, status, mediation, trial, judgment, proceedings supplemental, or rule to show cause. Read the event with the later order.
Check the newest CCS entry, then use the White County court schedule. Call the administrator for the court in the prefix when dates conflict. Use the Clerk for copies.
White Domestic Cases Without Images
Domestic-relations, adoption, guardianship, and other sensitive cases may show public case information but few remote documents. Check the MyCase access table, note the CCS event, and ask whether the public portion is available at the Clerk counter.
The office is at 110 North Main Street, second floor, Monticello. It also publishes PO Box 350 and fax 574-583-1532. Confirm the delivery method first.
White Estate Docket Clues
White local probate rules require petitions to state probable assets and value. If a supervised estate or guardianship remains open beyond a year, accountings are due at six-month intervals. Fiduciary and attorney fees require a prior written order. Those requirements can produce petition, inventory, accounting, fee-request, notice, and order events.
A probate CCS may be public while an attached report or protected detail is not remotely available. Use the event dates to define a focused Clerk request. Older White County court records from 2017 and before may also sit behind the Clerk's linked vendor archive. Because that archive did not expose reliable fields during research, call the Clerk rather than assuming all older images can be downloaded.
Who Can See Civil Dockets
Indiana Rule 4 presumes public access. Rule 5 excludes defined records and protected personal data. Rule 6 permits extraordinary exclusion. Remote access is often narrower than courthouse access in family, adoption, guardianship, mental-health, and sealed matters.
Key Rules:
Rule 4 sets the public-access presumption.
Rule 5 lists exclusions and protected data.
Rule 6 governs extraordinary exclusion.
A CCS is not a certified judgment. Ask the Clerk for certification and state the cause number, court, record, date range, and delivery preference.
Public inspection, mailed requests, fax after confirmation, and the Clerk's counter remain valid channels when MyCase lacks an image. A written request works best when it names one court, one cause number, and a defined document or event range. For current setting questions, use the court administrator rather than treating the records desk as the scheduling authority. Federal civil actions are outside both White County CCS systems and must be searched through the Northern District of Indiana.
